Romanticism
Known as the largest artistic movement in the 18th century, Romanticism’s influence has spread world-wide and into the 19th century. The origin of this movement can be traced back into Folklore interest starting in Germany. This movement placed new emphasis on emotion such as horror and terror. This romantic era also placed a role in politics. It is associated with liberalism and radicalism, because the people involved attempted to embrace the unfamiliar and mysterious. It highlighted individualism, causing artistes to explore different and passionate interests. Traces of Romanticism are found in other movements as well as modern poetry. Some great poets from this era are Charles Baudelaire and Rainer Maria Rilke.
