Imagism Movement
Imagism started in the early 1900s. The movement consists of American and English poets who favored clear, precise images and language. Imagism emerged from the Modernismo movement which is why they have similar styles. Imagist disliked Victorian, Georgian, and Romantic poetry because they think that those types of poetry just rambles and is careless. They strived to create poetry with exactness to detail and introduce an accurate presentation of a picture. Also they attempt to separate one image to expose its aesthetic. This movement started in London, and then gradually spread to Britain, Ireland, and the U.S. Unusual for the early twentieth century, women poets were large influences and contributors to this movement.
